This man is probably the reason you are alive right now. He’s not a rescue worker, he never passed any legislation, he didn’t set your parents up together, and if you’re young enough he might have died before you were even born. His name is Vasiliy Arkhipov, and for a brief moment he had the power to wipe out humanity with a snap of his fingers.
It was 1962, the USA was mad at the Soviet Union for being communist and the Soviets were mad at the USA for being capitalist but they couldn’t do anything about it because somebody went and invented the “kill all humans” button.
