Set during the events of Halo 3, the story follows a squad of elite Orbital Drop Shock Troopers who are separated after a disastrous mission to the city of New Mombasa when a Covenant slipspace jump devastates the area. Playing as “The Rookie,” a silent ODST soldier, you explore the dark, rain-soaked city alone, uncovering clues about what happened to your missing teammates through flashbacks. As the squad’s stories unfold, they discover that the Covenant are hunting a mysterious AI named Vergil, whose knowledge could change the course of the war. Reuniting amid overwhelming enemy forces, the ODSTs fight to protect Vergil and escape the city, proving that even without Spartans, ordinary soldiers can still become heroes in humanity’s darkest moments.
