as posted by the channelDuring World War One at the Eastern Front the Battle of Galicia (1914) was fought between Austro-Hungary and Russia. The Austrian commander Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf wanted to attack the Russian Empire first before the Russians could deliver the first blow. Warfare on the Eastern Front during WW 1 was different than on the Western Front. After the battle the Russians took control of Eastern Galicia with Lemberg as its capital.
