What caused WW1? The First World War started because of three main 'isms': nationalism, imperialism and militarism. The beginning of the Great War was due to several European alliences and the strong position of Germany. This video is part of the WW1 oversimplified series where I take comprehensive topics and make videos about them, in other words: a simple history. When you feel something is left out.
