as posted by the channelThe last offensive on the Eastern Front of World War I occured from mid-February to early March 1918. Operation Faustschlag, launched by the Central Powers on the Eastern Front in 1918 during World War I, marked the last major offensive in that theater. The operation aimed to exploit the disarray in the Russian army following the Bolshevik Revolution and the later signing of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. The Central Powers, primarily Germany and Austria-Hungary, swiftly advanced into the demoralized and weakened Russian territories, capturing vast swaths of land. The Russians put up barely any resistance. The offensive's success forced the Bolshevik government to accept harsh terms in the peace negotiations, resulting in the loss of significant territories, including Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltic states. The treaty ended the Eastern Front, allowing the Central Powers to redeploy forces to the Western Front in an attempt to secure a decisive victory there.
