Dutch WW2 Footwear

Here we see the breeched trousers. The puttees in Dutch were called 'beenwindsels' (or leg wraps).

It is interesting how to put these on. You basically had to make sure there can be no dirt that gets inside you shoe. And don't wrap it too tight. You don't wanna cut off your blood circulation. Here you see the black leather shoes. Did you know that these shoes nowadays are often worn. They kinda look like the classical Dr. Marten type of shoe. Although these days they don't have the hobnails. The iron hobnails you see beneath them. These are reproduced British ammo boots, so the hobnails aren't quite correct. Soldiers were allowed to wear their own shoes. But they had to be black and of course high enough to wear the puttees.
