6:17Now PlayingThe Socialist Republic of Chile was a short-lived state that existed for some months in 1932. A product of the Great Depression it was established when Carlos Dávila and Eugenio Matte launched a succesful coup ousting Juan Esteban Montero. Later Dávila held talks with former president Carlos Ibáñez del Campo. His rule ended after 100 days and later Arturo Alessandri was elected as president of Chile.
