Latin America during WW2

During World War II, Latin America played a largely overlooked role in the global conflict. Most Latin American countries, including Brazil, Mexico, and several Caribbean nations, actively supported the Allies by supplying vital resources such as oil, rubber, and food. Brazil, in particular, contributed troops to the war effort and allowed the Allies to establish air bases on its territory. Mexico declared war on the Axis powers in 1942 and also provided essential raw materials. The region, however, faced challenges such as political divisions and economic disparities that influenced their involvement. Additionally, German U-boats targeted merchant ships in the Caribbean, leading to tensions and occasional clashes between submarines and naval forces from Latin American countries. While Latin America did not experience the same level of direct combat and destruction as other regions, its contributions were significant in sustaining the Allied war effort.
