However, logistical issues, exhaustion, and overextended supply lines soon hindered progress. Moreover, the Allies' strategic withdrawal, counterattacks, and improved coordination, bolstered by fresh US troops, led to the offensive's ultimate failure.
Could it have succeeded? Perhaps, with better logistical planning, sustained reserves, and avoiding the dispersal of forces across multiple offensives. Concentrating on fewer objectives might have yielded a strategic breakthrough. However, the fundamental imbalance in resources and manpower, along with the Allies' adaptive strategies, made sustained success unlikely in the long run.
