YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe crimes of the Nazi penal unit Dirlewanger Brigade were appalling. The unit received a reputation because of its atrocities.
In Belarus Dirlewanger and his men mass executed civilians who lived in villages in the wrong place. Dirlewanger prefered to herd the local population in a barn and set it on fire. Anyone who tried to escape was then shot. In the 1985 Soviet movie Come and See (Idi i smotri) a scene was filmed in which this happened. Dirlewanger and his men killed at least 30,000 civilians in Belarus. For example during Operation Swamp Fever in September 1942 the men killed 8,350 Jews still left alive in ghetto in Baranovichi and proceeded to kill hundreds of “bandits” and “bandit suspects.”
They were later sent to Warsaw to surpress the Warsaw Uprising. Check the full video on what happened there.
