YouTube Description
as posted by the channelAnton Mussert had a clear vision for the Netherlands. As leader of the National Socialist Movement, he wanted to completely transform the country. Democracy was to be abolished and replaced by an authoritarian state based on Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist model. Mussert saw himself as the future leader of a “new Netherlands.” Political parties would be abolished, and power would be centralized in a single movement: the NSB. According to Mussert, the Netherlands also needed to cooperate more closely with Nazi Germany. In his vision, the country would be part of a larger Germanic empire, in which the Netherlands, together with Germany and other Germanic peoples, would form a single bloc. During the occupation in World War II, Mussert tried to turn these ideas into reality. Yet real power remained with the German occupiers. Despite his loyalty, Mussert never gained the full control over the Netherlands he had hoped for.
