Now, researchers say we may have just 20 years left with the vast ’ohi’a forests on Big Island that play such an integral role in culture, preventing flooding and supporting the ecosystem. But of course, all islands have been affected.
State land officials are hoping to get $8 million per year to carry out a forthcoming plan to prevent rapid ’ohi’a death — that’s double what we’re spending now.
