A state regulatory board tried to shut down a Lānaʻi pharmacy’s ability to fill prescriptions after the conclusion of a pilot program that allowed it to fill prescriptions under the remote supervision of a Maui pharmacist.
While a Honolulu judge intervened to at least temporarily reopen Lānaʻi Community Health Center, a bill moving through the Legislature seeks to stop exactly this kind of thing from happening again by allowing pharmacists on neighbor islands to remotely supervise rural medical clinics.
