Tia Lewis is reporting from Central Oʻahu, where many have lost power — much like the rest of the state.
Lala was tracking southwest of Oʻahu Sunday morning as the storm made its way east along the island chain.
The storm was downgraded overnight from a hurricane to a tropical storm. A tropical storm is a cyclone with sustained winds ranging from 39 to 73 mph.
Most of the state was under a tropical storm warning as of 9:40 a.m. Sunday, with the exception of Big Island. Weather is expected to improve.
