Russia believes taking the town will accelerate its advance in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian forces launched 25 attacks around Kurakhove, but most of the town is now under Russian control. Reports also suggested the deployment of around 11,000 North Korean troops in Kursk to support Russia, though Moscow has not confirmed this.
