Buses carrying hundreds of Palestinian prisoners arrived in Khan Younis, greeted by jubilant crowds. Hamas handed over four hostage bodies to the Red Cross in exchange, just before the ceasefire’s first phase ended. Israel, which had delayed the release of over 600 prisoners over hostage handover concerns, confirmed the transfer through Egyptian mediation. Among those freed were hundreds detained without charge, while some convicted of deadly attacks were exiled to Egypt. The first phase of the ceasefire saw Hamas release 33 hostages, including eight bodies, in return for nearly 2,000 prisoners. Talks on a second phase remain uncertain.
