5:11Now PlayingRussia celebrates Victory Day on May 9. It marks Nazi Germany’s surrender in World War II, or as the Russian’s call it, the Great Patriotic War. These days, a grand military parade is held every May 9, in Moscow’s iconic Red Square, to commemorate the Red Army’s victory. It’s one of the biggest celebrations in Russia, and it once drew leaders from all over the world. Especially from countries that the Red Army liberated from Nazi occupation. But ever since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, Western leaders have stayed away from Moscow, and criticised president Vladimir Putin for the parades instead.
