It has kept Ukraine’s hospitals running and frontline troops connected. But when the Ukrainian forces needed it the most, Musk pulled the plug. During Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia on 30th September 2022, its troops reportedly faced a communication blackout. The incident led to a military disaster and prevented Ukrainian soldiers from retaking territory held by Russia. The blackout came to light, when Reuters reported that Musk had ordered the shutdown of Starlink services in Ukraine.
