MANILA, Philippines — The Blue Ribbon Committee, chaired by Senator Rodante Marcoleta, probes the alleged corruption in flood control projects during a hearing at the Senate on Tuesday.
A total of 15 contractors were invited to the committee hearing, with only 11 replying. But among the 11, only seven showed up at the hearing.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee issued subpoenas to several contractors who failed to attend its hearing on allegedly questionable and substandard flood control projects funded by the government.
During the hearing on Tuesday only 7 out of the 15 contractors summoned were present, either represented by company owners, executives, or legal counsel. In response to the absences, the committee moved swiftly to approve the issuance of subpoenas to compel the attendance of those who failed to appear.
