Hurricane Erin is churning off the Atlantic, placing the U.S. East Coast on high alert. Though the storm remains offshore, the National Hurricane Center has warned of dangerous storm surge, coastal flooding, and life-threatening rip currents from the Carolinas up to the Mid-Atlantic.
