4:13Now PlayingThe International Atomic Energy Agency has found traces of Uranium at a site in Syria. The IAEA investigated multiple military bases, including a building in which a nuclear reactor was allegedly installed. Notably, the building where the alleged nuclear reactor was installed was bombed by Israel in 2007. The IAEA presented a report to member nations, the agency said that the investigation concluded in 2011 found the ousted President Bashar al-Assad had built a reactor in secrecy in the Deir al-Zor area, in Syria. Assad had reiterated that the site in question where IAEA had found traces of uranium was a conventional military base. A Reuters report said that the IAEA team had found significant particles of natural uranium in samples taken at one of the sites. Natural uranium indicates that the uranium was not enriched.
The agency says the particles of anthropogenic origin were also found at the other two sites. Anthropogenic uranium indicates the produce was a result of chemical processing.
