The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has resumed its high-profile inquiry into alleged massive corruption in flood control projects, with contractors Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya and Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya in the hot seat. Justice Secretary Boying Remulla declared that the Discayas must return any ill-gotten funds before they can be considered as state witnesses in the probe. The Commission on Audit (COA) revealed that over ₱341 million worth of flood control projects were either substandard, overpriced, or non-existent, implicating multiple government officials. Documents from COA and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were submitted to the Ombudsman, detailing ghost projects and suspicious contracts.
