The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee continues its investigation into alleged irregularities in the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) flood control projects, as reports surfaced that Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson may resign as chairman amid internal criticism.
Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto confirmed that Lacson is frustrated, saying the senator is caught between critics demanding hearings and others questioning why hearings are being held at all. Sotto said he has spoken with Lacson but has not yet received a formal resignation letter, adding that Lacson may deliver it personally. Despite the uncertainty, Sotto praised Lacson’s leadership, calling his handling of the committee’s flood-control probe “very good,” and pledged full support for whatever decision Lacson makes.
