JERUSALEM — U.S. President Donald Trump is set to deliver a major address to the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, as part of his Middle East peace mission marking the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel is ready to “immediately receive” 48 hostages, including 20 believed to be alive, under a Hamas pledge to release them by Monday in exchange for 250 Palestinian prisoners. Enhanced security measures have been deployed ahead of Trump’s arrival, with thousands of police and Border Police officers guarding key routes. A red carpet welcome awaits at Ben Gurion Airport, where President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Netanyahu will greet Trump. After his Knesset address and meetings with hostage families, Trump will travel to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to chair a summit with President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and world leaders on ensuring lasting peace in Gaza.
