Members of the European Parliament said Donald Trump has made the bloc a ‘doormat’ for the US. Manon Aubry and Martin Schirdewan of EU’s Left Group also accused Brussels of “servility” toward the United States and Israel. Aubry also criticised alleged EU double standards on international law and slammed the EU-Mercosur trade deal as undemocratic. Fellow co-chair Martin Schirdewan called for economic retaliation against Washington and greater EU energy independence.
