Speaking in a video address from Kyiv on Wednesday (18 February). He said, “As of today, we cannot say that the result is sufficient,” referring to the second day of trilateral and other negotiation formats.
Zelensky explained that military representatives had engaged in serious and substantive discussions, but sensitive political questions — including potential compromises and the need for a meeting between leaders — have not yet been adequately addressed.
He urged that talks continue in February and stressed the importance of strong European participation, specifically naming France, Britain, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland as vital stakeholders. “It is we in Ukraine who always promote the position that Europe should be a participant in the process,” he said, adding that he appreciates the United States for recognizing this stance.
