Speaking ahead of the February 24 milestone, Kallas accused the Kremlin of prioritizing military aggression over the wellbeing of its own citizens, arguing that Russia continues to channel vast resources into weapons and warfare instead of domestic needs. She reaffirmed Europe’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and stressed that the war’s outcome will shape the continent’s long-term security.
Kallas also underscored the importance of unity among Western allies, calling for sustained pressure on Moscow and continued military and financial assistance for Kyiv.
"We have not reached an agreement on the 20th sanctions package," EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas told reporters. "This is a setback and a message we didn't want to send today, but the work continues."
