13:32Now PlayingUS News: The US House of Representatives voted down on a Republican-backed motion to halt President Donald Trump's operation against Iran on Thursday, after the Senate also failed to pass the resolution a day earlier.
The House voted 212–219 to reject the bill, which would have required US withdrawal from the conflict absent congressional authorisation for military action. The vote fell largely along party lines, with two Republicans backing the measure and four Democrats opposing it.
"One man should not be able to drag America into another foreign war, and we must keep fighting to stop these actions that are leaving Americans and the world less safe at a major cost to all of us," remarked Democratic Representative from Rhode Island Gabe Amo after the vote.
"Small men wage endless wars because they are looking to profit. They believe their privilege and connections will shelter their own children from the front-line horrors of war [...] We will not tolerate his callous disregard for human life. End this war now," said fellow Democrat Rep for Massachusetts Ayanna Pressley.
