The MEA spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, urged all parties to exercise restraint, avoid further escalation, and prioritize civilian safety. New Delhi also highlighted concerns about maritime security and energy supplies, noting that the region is critical to India’s oil imports and global shipping routes. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has held talks with Iranian officials while the government continues to monitor the safety of Indian nationals in the conflict zone.
The MEA spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, responds to questions about reports that Iran had allowed oil shipments meant for India to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Commenting on reports of two ships passing through the Strait, Jaiswal said he did not have much clarity on the matter but added that the government would provide a detailed update later in the evening.
