9:26Now PlayingIndia's government held an inter-ministerial briefing on the escalating security situation in West Asia, highlighting recent attacks on commercial vessels near Oman that affected Indian seafarers. The Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attacks, linked them to the wider regional conflict, and stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy. Officials confirmed that all 24 Indian crew members aboard MV Marivex were rescued, while 21 of 24 Indians aboard the attacked tanker MT ELOO were rescued and three Indian nationals were killed. Another vessel, MT Jalvir, carrying 20 Indian crew members, also came under attack but all sailors were reported safe. The government said Indian missions are operating round-the-clock helplines, coordinating evacuations, and working with international authorities to ensure the safety and repatriation of affected Indians. Shipping officials also announced compensation for the families of the deceased seafarers and said more than 3,500 Indian sailors have been repatriated since the crisis began.
