Russian authorities claimed air defences intercepted hundreds of drones, though viral footage showed explosions and fires at fuel facilities, disrupting flights at Moscow airports. President Volodymyr Zelensky defended the strikes as a legitimate response to Russia's continued attacks on Ukraine and said G7 leaders remained united in backing Kyiv while urging Moscow to negotiate. Russia retaliated with a large-scale missile and drone barrage against Ukrainian infrastructure. Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte argued Ukraine has stabilised the battlefield, inflicted heavy Russian casualties, and continues to deserve sustained Western military support while diplomatic efforts to end the war continue.
