1:03Now PlayingUS President Donald Trump used his speech at Mount Rushmore to issue a strong warning against Communism as the United States marked the beginning of its 250th year of Independence.
Calling Communism a "mortal threat to American liberty," Trump said it poses the greatest danger to the country, even greater than World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 attacks. He argued that the ideology is incompatible with the US Constitution and the principles of freedom on which the nation was founded.
Trump also claimed there is a renewed communist threat within the US, including from people who have recently arrived in the country and support ideas he said are opposed to the American way of life. He described Communism as a "Godless" ideology and warned that it poses an inherent danger to democracy. The remarks came during his Freedom 250 address ahead of America's 250th Independence anniversary.
