0:11Now PlayingAt least 18 people were injured after two explosive devices detonated in Syria's capital, Damascus, during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to the country.
According to Syria's Interior Ministry, four police officers were among the injured. The explosions occurred near the Ministry of Tourism and a hotel where Macron was scheduled to stay while meeting Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
Macron's office said the French leader, who was en route to meet al-Sharaa, did not hear the blasts and that his visit continued as planned. Syria's Interior Ministry added that the explosions occurred outside the designated security zone for Macron's residence and posed no direct threat to him or the official programme.
