Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei delivered a sharp response after reports that former US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest proposal. Baghaei declared, “We did not demand any concessions — the only thing we demanded was Iran’s legitimate rights.” He added that “the American side still insists on its one-sided views and unreasonable demands.”
During the briefing, Baghaei accused Washington of destabilizing the Middle East, saying, “America has placed itself as the greatest threat to international peace and security.” He also slammed what he called “America’s illegal and bullying actions” and warned that foreign interference in the region only leads to “increased insecurity.”
The Iranian spokesperson further claimed the US and Israel were responsible for the current regional crisis, stating, “The problem stems from the aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime.” He insisted Iran would continue defending its interests, warning, “We fight whenever it is necessary,” while also stressing that Tehran remains open to diplomacy if its rights are respected.
Baghaei also criticized repeated American pressure tactics, arguing that Washington has a long record of broken promises since the 2015 nuclear deal. Referring to US policy, he said, “This contradictory behavior has become a fixed pattern in American foreign policy.”
The comments came as the region witnessed renewed exchanges of fire, attacks targeting ships and the UAE, and fresh clashes between Israel and Hezbollah, raising fears that the ceasefire could collapse completely.
