as posted by the channelWASHINGTON—Rewriting No Child Left Behind (NCLB), the most recent reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), is one of the most significant challenges before this Congress. Unfortunately, the Republicans on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce have chosen to move forward with their reauthorization process without holding a single committee hearing or seeking any input from Democrats. The Republican majority has introduced legislation that would dismantle ESEA’s foundation of equity and accountability, and they intend to fast track it through the House. In response, Rep. Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA), the committee’s ranking Democratic member, will host a forum on Thursday, February 5, at 10:30 a.m. with committee members, educators, researchers and advocates to better inform Congress’s ESEA reauthorization efforts.
