as posted by the channelOn Thursday, June 18, at 11:00 AM ET, a group of eight Democratic House Members will announce their plans to travel next week (Monday, June 22, and Tuesday, June 23) to visit two private family detention facilities in Texas. These facilities are contracted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hold mothers and children awaiting disposition of their asylum claims. The Members, who are among the 136 House Democrats who recently signed a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson calling for an end to family detention, will visit the Karnes County Residential Center in Karnes City on Monday and the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley on Tuesday.
