St. Thérèse of Lisieux's earthly life seemed simple and unremarkable: born in 1873 in France, she lost her mother young, entered religious life with her sisters, and died at 24, largely unknown. Yet her legacy, described as a "storm of glory," lies in her spiritual journey—her deep awareness of God's mercy and grace in the smallest details of her life. Through trials, such as her parents' deaths and moments of divine intervention like her “Christmas grace,” Thérèse grew in childlike trust and confidence in God’s love. This Advent, as we reflect on her writings and her example, we are reminded that confidence in God’s mercy leads us to love, culminating in the greatest gift of all: the birth of Christ.
