In this video I go over the 4 reasons why the stock market is going down along with going over my strategy and what I plan on investing in using my Robinhood portfolio.
Reason #1 the stock market is dropping is because COVID-19 cases are going up! 31 of 50 states are reporting daily records and the United States is approaching 100,000 cases a day. Experts are saying we haven't seen the worst yet.
Reason #2 the stock market is dropping is because of the news this weekend of Prime Minister Boris Johnson shutting down the UK once again for 4 weeks! Gyms, restaurants, pubs will close but school and universities will remain open.
Reason #3 why the stock market is going down is because of the election uncertainty. Historically, the stock market has always been volatile during elections and especially the week leading up to it. However, it has generally recovered by December of the same year. However, if Biden wins and we see a contested election, things can get messy....
Reason #4 why the stock market is going down is because of the lack of stimulus. After several weeks and months of negotiation, the people have received no stimulus package. The economy and the stock market are suffering because of that.
In term of what I plan to invest in, I plan to keep an eye out on tech stocks. I personally believe that stocks will dip more during election and perhaps even after the results (if Biden wins, Trump can potentially contest the results which would drive stocks down further). When I see a catalyst that drives stocks back up, I plan on buying back into the market.
