Most were peaceful, but scenes of police escalation played out in many cities, causing protesters to scramble for safety. In Charlotte, protesters found themselves trapped by police who fired tear gas from both ends of the street, blocking their escape. Police said they had earlier been pelted with rocks and bottles. #InsideEdition
