The horse, named Ryder, remained on the ground for more than an hour while NYPD hosed him down. Finally, he was able to get to his feet. Now, New York animal activists are calling for a complete ban on horse-drawn carriages in the city. Witnesses say they saw Ryder in extreme distress hours and struggling to walk.
