He says the phone sent his emergency contacts an automated text message and called 911. To test the new technology, The Wall Street Journal conducted what they describe as a "not-exactly-scientific" test. Journal reporter Joanna Stern says the feature worked as advertised in the moving vehicle but not in the stationary one.
