Her nephew, Zion Carr, was also inside the home at the time of the murder. He says his aunt retrieved her gun after hearing a strange noise. Dean never announced that he was a cop but yelled at her to drop the gun. He later shot and killed her. Dean claims she was pointing a gun at him but Carr says her gun was pointing down.
