The Bray School, which is believed to be the oldest surviving school building for Black children, was moved about a half-mile to its new home at Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. Historians say the structure was built in 1760 by an English religious charity. It had the distinct mission of educating the children of free Black and enslaved people. It will be restored to its original floor plan and opened to the public in Fall 2024.
