as posted by the channelSotheby’s in New York auctioned off Picasso’s ‘Femme à la Montre,' or woman with a watch, painted in 1932. The auction house says he painted it at age 50, after achieving worldwide fame as an artist. Since 1968 the work has been hanging above the mantle in the home of philanthropist Emily Fisher Landau, who died earlier this year at 102. It’s the most expensive piece of art sold in 2023.
