Police say the suspect, 71-year-old Bruce Bell, threatened to shoot as he wanted access to a secure area behind the counter. Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department say Bell is a serial bank robber with four previous bank robbery convictions. He was released from prison in 2021 after serving time for 40 years.
