The American Airlines plane and helicopter collision is sparking memories of the deadly 1982 Potomac River crash. Forty-three years ago, a plane crashed into the 14th Street Bridge 30 seconds after taking off from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport during icy conditions. The Boeing 737 ended up in the Potomac River. Seventy-four passengers and crew members perished in the 1982 crash. Miraculously, five people survived.
