On March 12, Kilmar Abrego Garcia was seized by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Days later, he was flown to El Salvador, and interned at that country's mega-prison, known as CECOT. Van Hollen told reporters, "It is absolutely unjust and illegal to have this Marylander detained one more day in a notorious prison in El Salvador."
