His conviction was overturned in 2006. Police announced Monday that the real killer was Robert Eugene Brashers based on new DNA evidence. Brashers killed himself during a shootout with police in 1999. Springsteen was freed after he had served eight years in prison and is featured in the HBO docu-series "The Yogurt Shop Murders."
