Brent crude, known as the global benchmark, hit $111 a barrel Tuesday, which is lower than its high of $119 a barrel that was seen last month but nearly 60% higher than averages seen before the March start of the war with Iran. Oil prices went up Tuesday after negotiations stalled between the United States and Iran over talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
