Some laundromat businesses rake in 5 million dollars per year! Two essentials here are margins and good operators/managers. These managers must be empathetic, but must know numbers too (which also applies to real estate). If they can’t do both, your business likely won’t make it. Laundromats aren’t for everyone, but have consistent cash flow and are needed even during recessions.
It’s easier to start in real estate. If you’re not ready to commit to that, a baby step is to buy a vending machine. Buy one used and update it for credit cards, then find a place where there’s a lot of transit or waiting people nearby. ATM’s can be even better than vending machines, though they carry a higher risk of theft.

Starting from zero? Join the Real Estate group nearest to you. Find someone who knows their stuff and ask them what they need. Offer to work for them for free for the next 3 months, and “After that you’ll pay me for the work that you need me to do.” You’ll gain the experience you need!
Holiday decorating would be a great business too, especially if you store people’s decorations for them and offer a decade subscription.
